OVERVIEW: Participants will manipulate various materials including fiber rush and waxed linen in order to invent two or three-dimensional abstract sculptural forms. Students will learn several different ways to begin a piece allowing them to develop their own fiber structures. Inspiration from photocopies or visuals will assist this process. Some techniques such as knotless netting and weaving will be taught to further develop the form. The first two days students will learn how to create different forms and the third to the fifth day will be devoted to developing a more complete structure and adding embellishments. The instructor will give individual attention to each student. This workshop will boost your confidence to play and experiment through risk taking. You may or may not complete a piece, but hopefully you will enjoy the process! Open to all skill levels.
