TONIGHT: Join the Monday Night Life Drawing Group tonight, March 18, from 6:30pm–9pm for a relaxed yet focused life-drawing session held on WCC’s third floor. Tonight’s clothed model will sustain figure drawing pose(s) for the evening with opportunities for artists to capture quick gestures (1-5 min), short poses (10-25 min), and longer poses (30-90 min). Please note that while the Monday Night Life Drawing Group’s sessions are open to the public and to artists of all experience levels, these sessions are non-instructional, and artists will need to provide their own art materials/equipment.
For more information, please see below. If you have additional inquiries, please contact WCC to be put in contact with the external organizer for the Monday Night Life Drawing Group.
MONDAY LIFE DRAWING GROUP
Join us on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 9:00. We provide a welcoming space for artists to create, featuring a clothed live model each session. Please bring your own materials and equipment; no instruction provided.
Artists of all levels of experience are welcome—beginners, college students, professionals, and everything in-between. Everyone is very kind and non-judgemental, so there's no need to fear you aren't experienced enough to attend :o) It's a relaxed environment and we are all just here to draw, improve our practice, and support one another.
Sessions vary from week to week—classic figure study, portrait (head and shoulders), costumed interior figure, local musicians, stuff like that. During costumed interior and portrait sessions the model holds the same pose the entire night, with breaks. Figure sessions are a combo of quick gestures (1-5 min poses), short poses (10-25 min), and longer poses (30-90 min). Silence is encouraged while the model is posing. Conversation is encouraged during breaks.
Recommended Donations
We'll have two donations at each session: one for the venue and one for the model. Please come prepared to contribute to these donations if you wish.
We suggest a donation of $2 or more for the use of the space at The Washburn Cultural Center.
We suggest a donation of $5 or more to the model for their time and talent. Please place your donation for the model into the nearby jar.
If you feel like drawing and/or painting and are looking for a supportive community to explore your craft, we'd love to have you join us!
