Experience the beauty and inspiration of youth art! After camping for a few days and experiencing the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute youth program participants took to the brush and, through words and image, shared what they feel is important about stewardship of natural places, especially Apostle Islands National Lakeshore.

This month, the BACKWOODS ARTISTS watercolor group returns to our galleries with watercolor paintings and pastel paintings by over 22 artists, as well as ceramics, prints, and cards perfect for the holidays!

The Chequamegon Bay Arts Council (CBAC) returns to the Cultural Center’s galleries this October for their annual member show, The Gathering! This year’s exhibition features 90+ artworks in a variety of mediums by 30+ area artists!

This September, the Cultural Center hosts two exciting exhibitions! Come see intricate wood carvings, sculptures made from driftwood, and pen drawings on wood from Black Bear Studios. In our other gallery, the annual Whimsy exhibition is filled with playful multimedia artwork made by the area's eccentric artists. Both exhibitions run from September 4–26, 2021!

Visit the Cultural Center to view recent work by Rita Vanderventer and Rabbett Before Horses Strickland. Vanderventer’s 30+ acrylic paintings and mixed media work depict local and exotic wildlife, Ojibwe imagery, and haunting landscapes. This exhibition of Strickland’s recent (2019–2021) large-scale oil paintings features works displayed for the first time, including the very recently completed 12’ x 7’ Birth of a New World, and preparatory drawings that help to contextualize his process.
